To lead by example by our own decision making and behaviour, to continually improve our environmental performance.

1. Management systems
Develop and implement environmental management system:
- Identify & prioritise environmental aspects.
- Develop & implement a policy & action plan with targets.

2. Legal compliance
Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory legislation.
- Compile a register of relevant environmental legislation
- Seek any authorisations required
- Modify operating procedures to ensure compliance.
3. Training
Ensure the organisation has appropriate human resources to improve its environmental performance .
- Provide all staff with training as identified.
4. Staff awareness and behaviour
Raise staff awareness to change attitudes and behaviour at work .
Provide feedback to staff on environmental performance
- Hold staff awareness raising events.
- Develop & encourage staff suggestion scheme.
- Involve staff in monitoring the performance of the organisation.
- Provide feedback to staff on environmental performance.
5. Purchasing
Ensure sustainable produced goods and services are used, and seek to influence the way suppliers and contractors operate by bringing supply chain pressure to bear.
Develop and implement a purchasing policy that favours :
- Suppliers with environmental policies or certified EMS’s
- Recycled or recyclable products.
- Energy efficient appliances.
- Products & services that do not contain or produced using hazardous substances.
- Energy generated from renewable sources.
- Local business & locally produced goods.
6. Travel
Seek to reduce impacts associated with staff travel to and at work.
Develop and implement a green transport plan:
- Enable car sharing developing dialogue.
- Encourage staff to use alternative transport, providing bus timetables, cycle facilities etc.
- Convert fleet to run on alternative fuel, or more efficient models.
- Ensure fleet models are regularly serviced.
7. Materials use
Seek to reduce consumption of materials and reuse or recycle materials were possible.
- Enable and encourage double sided printing and photocopying
- Send outdated equipment to charities for refurbishment.
- Recycle key materials e.g. paper, card, batteries, oils, textiles, printer cartridges, glass, steel, aluminium, plastics, etc.
8. Energy efficiency
Seek to reduce energy consumption.
Develop and implement a energy efficiency plan:
- Install energy saving devices.
9. Water Demand
Seek to reduce water consumption as far as possible .
- Undertake inspections of water pipes.
- Fit water saving devices.
- Fit harvesting systems.
10. Pollution Prevention
Ensure emissions to the atmosphere and of disposal of waste are minimized.
- Raise awareness of Duty of care and disposal methods for hazardous wastes.
